• Replace Reeds Regularly: over time, reeds become saturated and less effective, so fresh reeds keep the fragrance flowing.

Choosing the best diffuser reeds

The reeds are what carry the fragrance from the bottle into your room, so they make a real difference to how well a reed diffuser performs. Good diffuser reeds draw oil up evenly along their length and release it steadily into the air.

Our black reed diffuser reeds are rattan, 22cm x 3mm, and come in a pack of seven for £2.50. They fit most standard reed diffuser bottles.

However good your reeds, they will not last forever. Over time they clog with oil and dust and stop carrying scent as well, so fit fresh reeds each time you pour in one of our reed diffuser refills. Fresh reeds also stop the old fragrance mixing with the new one.

How many reeds should I use?

More reeds give a stronger scent but use the oil faster; fewer reeds give a softer scent. Use fewer in a small room and more in a larger space.

Should I flip the reeds?

Yes. Flipping the reeds every few days refreshes the scent. Do it over a sink or a piece of kitchen roll, as the oil can mark furniture and surfaces.

Can I reuse reeds with a new scent?
