Chocolate is not the only way to count down to Christmas. A wax melt advent calendar turns each December day into a new home-fragrance moment, with a scented surprise waiting behind every numbered window.
For wax melt fans, it's a chance to explore festive favourites and discover fragrances they might never have chosen as a full bar. For gift buyers, it's a thoughtful alternative to a traditional advent calendar, especially for someone who enjoys making their home feel warm and welcoming during winter.
What Is a Wax Melt Advent Calendar?
A wax melt advent calendar is a Christmas countdown with individually portioned scented wax melts behind numbered windows. You open one each day, place the wax in a suitable burner and enjoy the fragrance as it warms.
Unlike a calendar built around one flavour or product, a scented advent calendar can create a different atmosphere from day to day. One window might reveal a sweet bakery scent, while the next could bring winter woods, fruit or spice.
What's Inside Our Wax Melt Advent Calendar 2026?
- 24 Christmas tree shaped soy wax melts, approx. 10g each (245g in total)
- 24 different scents, one for each day from 1st to 24th December
- A white and silver snowflake "Merry Christmas" calendar box, ready to give as a gift
- Scent and safety information printed on the label
The 2026 scents include Gingerbread Man, Mulled Wine, Christmas Spice, Candy Cane, Toasted Marshmallow, Winter Spruce and Peppermint, Crumble and Custard and Santa's Sleigh Ride. The full window-by-window list is on the product page, and most of the scents are also sold as snap bars in our Christmas wax melts collection, so you can buy more of your favourites.
Every melt is hand-poured in small batches at our workshop in Andover, Hampshire, using soy wax. A burner and tealights are not included.
Why Choose a Wax Melt Advent Calendar for 2026?
It makes the countdown feel like an experience
Opening a numbered window is only the beginning. Warming the day's melt creates a small ritual that can become part of a cosy evening, a decorating session or a Christmas film night.
You can discover fragrances beyond your usual favourites
It's easy to keep buying the same scent family. An advent calendar introduces variety in small portions, helping you explore sweet, fruity, fresh, woody and spicy fragrances without choosing a full-sized product first.
It's a chocolate-free advent calendar for adults
A home-fragrance calendar is a useful alternative for someone who doesn't want sweets. It suits a partner, friend, relative, colleague or anyone who already enjoys wax melts.
It can inspire your fragrance choices after Christmas
Keep a note of the fragrances you enjoy most. By the end of the countdown, you'll have a personal shortlist to revisit. Browse our current scent list for more.
Looking for a Candle Advent Calendar?
We don't make a candle or scented candle advent calendar, but our wax melt advent calendar is an alternative for anyone who loves home fragrance: you get 24 different scents to try instead of one candle. If you'd rather have candles for Christmas, browse our scented candles or home fragrance gift boxes.
How Does a Wax Melt Advent Calendar Work?
- Open one window each day and place the wax melt in the dish of your burner.
- Light an unscented 4-hour tealight underneath and enjoy the scent as the wax melts.
- Read the scent and safety information on the label.
- When you can no longer smell the fragrance, extinguish the tealight, let everything cool and remove the wax.
- Keep a note of favourites you'd like to enjoy again.
Always use your burner on a level, draught-free surface, never move it while lit, and never leave a lit tealight unattended. Never add water or fragrance oil to the dish, and don't overfill it. New to melts? Read our guide to using wax melts.
Which Burner Do You Need?
The calendar is designed for a tealight wax melt burner with unscented 4-hour tealights, such as our pack of 16 unscented tealights. Place the burner on a stable, heat-resistant surface, away from draughts, flammable items, children and pets. The London Fire Brigade warns that tealights become very hot and that candles and naked flames should be kept away from children and pets.

Is a Wax Melt Advent Calendar a Good Christmas Gift?
It's a thoughtful gift for someone who enjoys home fragrance, likes trying new scents or wants something that lasts all through December. It suits:
- An existing wax melt fan
- Someone setting up a new home
- A friend who enjoys cosy seasonal traditions
- A colleague or relative who is difficult to buy for
- Someone who prefers a non-chocolate advent calendar
If the recipient is new to wax melts, pair the calendar with a burner and tealights so they can start on 1st December. For more ideas, see our Christmas gifts.
How to Make the Scented Countdown More Special
Match the fragrance to a Christmas activity
You don't have to use every melt on the day it's opened. Save a bakery scent for festive baking, a spruce fragrance for decorating the tree or a warming spice for a Christmas film evening.
Create a simple fragrance-rating card
Rate each melt for fragrance family, strength in your chosen room and whether you'd enjoy it again. It turns the calendar into a scent-discovery game and makes future gift buying easier.
Use different rooms
A fragrance that feels subtle in an open-plan lounge may be more noticeable in a smaller room. Give the fragrance time to spread before adding more wax.
